Nadia Mckechnie's veganism lecture
In December 1st class, we had a lecture about Veganism by Nadia Mckechnie. she is a professional educational writer and a narrator. We looked at what it means to be vegan, how popular veganism is becoming, and the reasons driving the global vegan trend, particularly among millennials.
During her lecture, she taught us about the benefits of abolishing the consumption and production of meat, by explaining the cruelty and the reality of livestock on farms. She also talked about the connection between veganism and SDGs. It was very impressive that methane gas released from the cows would badly affect global warming.
Before the lecture, I felt that it would be pretty hard to be vegan because I personally thought that there would be fewer advantages or contributions. However, through the lecture, I still couldn't imagine myself being vegan, but still, I was able to strongly recognize the importance and logicality of veganism.
I'm glad that you saw the logic of being vegan from her talk. Although the main impetus for most vegans to go in that direction is _moral_ (not wanting animals to be harmed on their behalf), I think there are sound and logical reasons to become vegan. The fact that a diet in which animals are consumed isn't sustainable in the long term (that is, the resources on earth soon won't be able to support it) is as logical a reason as one can possibly imagine. It used to be the case that eating vegan was inconvenient, but that's becoming less and less the case as more restaurants and food manufacturers cater to vegan/ vegetarian diets now.
