Food Related Book
Today, I would like to introduce my food-related book called "Brave Girl Eating" by Harriet Brown. This is a nonfiction book about the author's daughter, Kitty who suffered from "Anorexia", which is categorized as a mental disease. Anorexia is an eating disorder, characterized by low weight, food restriction, body image disturbance, fear of gaining weight, and an overpowering desire to be thin.
I decided to read this book because I was personally interested in how and why people become an eating disorder. Furthermore, in order to learn the danger of eating disorders and to learn the process of recovery, this was a perfect book for me to read. By the way, I also used to suffer from an eating disorder which is a different type from anorexia, when I was nearly the same age as Kitty, and this would be another reason why I chose a food book that is related to mental illness instead of a food book that is related to the culture, which everyone else might decide to read. I am still almost halfway through, but I would like to introduce what I've learned from the book. It will be posted on my next blog, so please do not forget to check it!
